TAKE-APART® Bipolar Forceps According to KASSAM / SNYDERMAN for Skull base Surgery

Precise coagulation, hemorrhage control and a good view of the operating field are essential in skull base surgery.

Any coagulation instrument should allow the surgeon to safely and conservatively operate on tumors and blood vessels adjacent to critical brain tissue. In endoscopic accesses, this becomes even more important, since the source of bleeding is often difficult to reach in small accesses – but a consistent endoscopic view is indispensable. Therefore, every bipolar instrument should be designed ergonomically and safely.

Years of KARL STORZ experience in manufacturing fine microinstruments and intensive collaboration with neurosurgeons have resulted in the development of a completely new design.

Special features of the new TAKE-APART® bipolar forceps:
  • Angled jaws for an unobstructed view of the surgical field
  • Sleek jaws for very precise coagulation
  • Dual shaft design for applications in deep anatomical regions (working length 20 cm)
  • Precise coagulation thanks to adequate insulation at both jaws
  • Jaws and shaft are rotatable

In this context, please note our new physicians’ guide “The Expanded Endonasal Approach to the Ventral Skull Base: Sagittal Plane” according to KASSAM / SNYDERMAN. In addition to example applications of the new TAKE-APART® bipolar forceps, you will also find other interesting information about the instruments and surgical technique involved in an "expanded endoscopic approach to the skull base.”
